Black Hawk Down -  Remember this Scene?

Ridley Scott's Black Hawk Down extensively features military vehicles, sparing no expense for live action, explosions, crash sites, and, notably, the US Military Humvee. The iconic 'Get on that 50' scene showcases numerous humvees navigating a narrow street, flanked by aggressive well-armed guerrilla fighters. These early humvees lacked armor and turret shielding, leaving soldiers vulnerable to small arms fire. Originally not meant for direct combat engagements, the humvee was designed for operations behind enemy lines. However, its ability to withstand challenges proved its mettle, leading to its transformation into a formidable force over time.

What people say about us!

During NCIS Sydney Season 2, I faced the challenge of sourcing an American Humvee for a two-week shoot in Darwin. After extensive research, it became clear there were no local options available, so I had to look interstate. That’s when I found Yank Tank in Queensland. Despite needing to transport the Humvee over 3,000 km, Travis wasn’t fazed and proposed shipping it via flatbed truck.
The sandy-colored Humvee was exactly what we needed to convey an American presence at the Darwin base. Our actors drove it with ease thanks to the automatic transmission, and the various add-ons made it look even more authentic. It blended seamlessly into the scenes.
The entire process with Travis was straightforward, and I was impressed with both the vehicle and the service. I highly recommend Yank Tank and wouldn’t hesitate to work with them again!   - Daniel W. Art Director/ESA Productions 9
